Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.2.5

Today Blizzard released content patch 8.2.5 for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, and here’s a rundown of what you can find in the patch.

SPOILER WARNING: There will be cinematics linked showing the conclusion of BfA’s war campaign, so if you haven’t finished yet and don’t want it spoiled, best stop here.

First off, the patch brings the long-awaited updated models for Cataclysm’s Worgen and Goblin races. Show off your fierce new looks and winning smiles with the new models. This also includes revamped female Worgen models, aka the “angry chihuahuas” as many players referred to the old models as. The worgen running animations were also updated, giving them a more feral, loping run.

In addition, the 15th anniversary events were in the patch, which will go live later in November as Blizzard celebrates a decade and a half of World of Warcraft. This will include the usual anniversary package in the mail that grants extra experience and reputation for the duration of the anniversary event. There will also be an anniversary raid where we will relive raid fights from Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm. Completing all three wings will give an achievement, Memories of Fel, Frost, and Fire; in addition to a Deathwing-inspired dragon mount. There will also be a throwback version of the Alterac Valley epic battleground, whose achievement, Alterac Valley of Olde, will also reward two updated pvp mounts.

There will also be many new quests available, among them the conclusion to the war campaign focused on the war between the Horde and Alliance, as well as new quests pertaining to Magni Bronzebeard’s efforts to heal Azeroth.

Blizzard is also rolling out a new system to allow people to play with lower-level friends, party sync. Party sync will allow a high level player to set themselves to sync up with a lower level party member. For example, if a level 120 player syncs up with a level 40 player, the 120 will be brought down to level 60, the highest level in the same content bracket as the lower level party member. This will also allow the higher level player to be able to repeat quests they’ve already done, once per day, for rewards.

A revamped Recruit A Friend system also makes a return in 8.2.5, offering many rewards for bringing your friends into the World of Warcraft.

There is also a new faction in Stormsong Valley, which will offer a questline and reputation grind to acquire the much-anticipated honey bee mount for Alliance players.

Last but not least, a timewalking version of the Firelands raid will be available in the coming weeks as well, allowing players to experience Cataclysm’s Firelands raid when the Cataclysm timewalking event is active. This raid will provide level-appropriate rewards for players as well.

For those looking to check out the big cinematics from the end of the war campaign, we have you covered.

First up is the Negotiation cinematic, where the Alliance and Saurfang’s rebels discuss their plans for defeating Sylvanas Windrunner; Warchief of the Horde.

Then we have the big show, the final confrontation between Anduin and Saurfang’s forces and Sylvanas.

Then, Alliance players and Horde players who chose to side with Saurfang in the questline get a cinematic memorializing those who fell in the fight against Sylvanas.

And finally, those who chose to keep following Sylvanas down her dark path got a cinematic showing the Banshee Queen’s next step after the fallout of the fight at Orgrimmar.

What did you think of the war campaign’s conclusion? Did it end the way you wanted, or expected? Let us know in the comments!
